The Principles of Art History

by

Heinrich Wöfflin

The Wölfflin Project is a research project about the global readership of the Swiss art historian Heinrich Wölfflin’s Kunstgeschichtliche Grundbegriffe, a foundational text of art history published in German in 1915. One hundred years later we are assessing the global impact of this widely read and widely translated work for art history as well as its impact on many other disciplines. The project is a collaboration of Professors Evonne Levy of the University of Toronto and Professor Dr. Tristan Weddigen of the University of Zurich and is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
